Since Wednesday was me and my dad's birthday (yes, we have the same b-day), me, my dad, and brother visited Magic Mountain on Sunday. I was expecting signs of Fright Fest preparation, which we did. A lot! Fright Fest starts in a few weeks (Oct. 8), so there were a lot of decorations already set up. Cobwebs. Cobwebs. Cobwebs! They were everywhere! When we were waiting for Log Jammer, we noticed wiring for the maze "Warehouse 13", along with queue posts starting to be taken down. Across the way from Log Jammer, was Flashack's former location, where the Fright Fest maze "Jokester's Hide-out 3D" is. Not much to see here though.
While we were riding Colossus, we spotted Psyclone's old trains used for Colossus Backwards on the transfer track, so sometime soon, those will be fitted on the tracks. The other ride to feature a maze in the queue line is Tidal Wave which was closed. No sign whatsoever of the maze prep. in the queue. Not much mazes were actually visible to the public though. I DID stumble upon props for the "Lecter's Slaughterhouse" maze in Gotham City however. While I was scouting about for possible maze entrances in Gotham City, I noticed a narrow walkway right next to the designated smoking area, that seemed to wind past a wall in the direction of Lecter's Slaughterhouse. Since there was no gate or fence restricting me to go in, I took a quick look around the corner of the wall. It took me a couple of seconds to notice that it was NOT the maze entrance, but indeed the backstage area for the maze, where I saw a stack of bodies covered (painted) in blood just lying there on the cement. It sounds impossible, but it was really there.
Those were the major signs of Fright Fest in the park I saw on Sunday. Other than that, the rides were all walk-ons (even X2), except oddly enough Batman. For the first time in my Six Flags history, Batman had a wait extending past the entrance to the storm tunnel. I don't know what caused this. It was a very fun & interesting trip though! It sure did make me want to visit duringh Fright Fest! (except for the body props).
