General Tips
-There are plenty of great offers & values out there to save you money on General Admission, so use them! Many fast food stores, grocery markets, and other companies offer deals like coupons, or vouchers or discounts. Visit our Park Info section for a complete list of discounts & deals.
-Generally, days hosting events or performances will be busier than normal operating days. Why? Specific events may attract groups, schools, or camps to the park, thus making it more crowded. We recommend checking that your planned trip day is not on one of these days.
-Dress comfortably. Simply because you will be out and about all day, and it's going to be hot out. Comfortable shoes are also suggested, as you will be walking a lot.
-If you are going to the park when it opens, and want to beat all the crowds going into Southwestern Territory, take the shortcut through the Looney Tunes Superstore immediately to your right. It works! I do that every time!
-Most times in the afternoon, there is plenty of parking spaces in the parking lot, near the front, but many people don't either see them, think about them, look for them, but they're there. This not only saves you time, but also requires less walking. This trick only works after lunch to closing. *Don't try this at opening time!*
-make sure to drink lots of water, Valencia is esentially a high desert region, it gets very dry and hot. I reccomend the souvenir bottle filled with ice and fountain water. Submitted by- Adam N.

Traveling Tips:
Traveling far distances to get to Magic Mountain? Maybe out of this country, or state? Here’s a few tips to fulfill your park experience.
-Consider the Flash Pass. If you are traveling far for a visit, you probably want to ride all of the rides to get the most out of your trip. To ensure that you won’t have to deal with long lines, buy Flash Pass, so you are guaranteed more rides, without waits.
-Before your visit, make sure that all or most of the rides are open & operating, so you get the most out of your trip. This is especially recommended during the off-season.

Food Tips:
Meals tend to cost more than most people are willing to pay at Magic Mountain. Here are a few tricks to skip the hassle of buying overpriced food.
-Most people take advantage of the FREE ice water that the park offers at the food venues. This way, they will be able to quench their thirst without paying $5 for a soda. *We suggest that you don’t bring bottled water, as this will be a nuisance on the rides.
-Eat outside the park. Skip paying too much on park food, by getting your hand stamped for re-entry and eating outside of the park. There are plenty of cheap fast food stores outside Magic Mountain that will be cheaper than the park. Or if you don’t want to do that either, bring a cooler full of food & drinks to leave in the car until you want to use it. *Coolers are not allowed inside Magic Mountain. There is a park in the parking lot for you to eat.*
-If you decide to eat somewhere at the park, be smart. To save money, as said before, utilize the free ice water instead of buying a soda with your meal. Most sides are large enough to share.
-The Souvenir Cups may seem like a good deal: 99 cent refills all year.. But, come time for the rides & rollercoasters, what do you do with the cup? Most of the coasters are "cup-unfriendly", and require that these along with other things be put into lockers. Are you really saving money when you have to pay $1 for a locker at almost every ride?
-If you're not into eating a whole meal, there is some alternatives. For instance, Johnny Rockets offers Onion Rings For Two (or fries). This is designed as a snack for two people rather than a whole meal. It holds us over till the end of the day!

Tips For Riding:
Magic Mountain is famous for their 16 rollercoasters, and many flat rides. However, many of the coasters are not accessory friendly (bags, prizes, personal items etc.), which means lockers. How to avoid this? Here are a few tips when riding:
-Pack lightly. Only bring what’s absolutely necessary to the park, as this will be most practical when riding the attractions.
-Some coasters will have individual ride lockers for $1. These should be your very last fall-back plan if all else fails, because most rides require them for items.
-If you plan on arriving to the park when it opens for the day, head out to the back of the park (i.e Batman, Riddler's Revenge, Scream!). Those typically have no wait when it opens. Most people go immediately for the Baja Ridge area (X2, Viper, Tatsu), which at the time has the most lines.
-Some rides do not require lockers, as they have free cubbies/item shelves for riders to use. List of rides utilizing cubbies:
Ninja
Tatsu
Revolution
Colossus (allows items to be set aside)
-A lot of rides have $1 individual lockers. The maximum time on those is 120 minutes of use. If the coaster has ashort wait, why not ride twice or maybe another nearby ride that doesn't have a long wait. Make sure that you don't let the locker time out though!
-Most times, rollercoasters with 4 seater trains have faster wait times than ones with two-seats. They might seem like long lines, but since they can accomodate more people per ride, they generally move faster. Here are the rides with the 4-seat cars.
-Riddler's Revenge
-Batman The Ride
-Scream!
-Tatsu
-If you want to ride X2, but don't feel like waiting in a 2+ hour line, try to get there before the park actually opens. Make sure you're as far forward in the lines to enter the park, because these often take a long time to get through. Once inside, sprint for X2! Submitted by- Ryan O.
- If you take electronics such as phones or iPods, consider packing them in Ziploc bags, or snack bags, so they're safe from the water rides. Submitted by- Ron
Hurricane Harbor Tips:
-Water shoes or flip flops/sandals are suggested, as the ground at Hurricane Harbor gets very hot. Believe me, I've done it without before. It was AWFUL!
-To avoid waiting in line at every slide for an inner tube, renting a tube is recommended. Plus, with a rental, you can use them in the Lazy River, & Wave Pool, which others without rentals can't. And you get a FREE soda, if you bring the wristband & tube back!
-Store personal items, especially valuables in a locker. Even though free lawn chairs for you to use are there, they aren't always being attended.

FAQs:
Q: How much money should I bring?
A: If you eat smart, and cheap, you only need $20 for food each meal for one person. Keep in mind prices vary, but most combos are around $8-10, which is expensive, assuming you want more than one meal. It also depends on how many meals you want for the day. Souvenir cash can be anything. Shirts are generally $20-$30. It just depends on what you want. I would recommend $20 at the least for souvenirs. And you don't have to spend it all either.
Q: When is the best day to go in terms of lines?
A: Weekdays are always the best time to visit, as the least waits are during the week. Generally, on a weekend, specifically Saturdays, the waits are very long.
Q: When is the best time of day to arrive?
A: When it opens, is always the best time to arrive, as the least waits are then, especially for the coasters near the back of the park. In the evening (5-Closing) is also a great time in terms of waits. This is when most summer camps/schools leave, along with most people.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Since the park is located in Valencia, most times the temperature is always very hot, so dress accordingly. Dress comfortably, because most likely, you'll be outside for a while. Tennis shoes are recommended. Flip flops will get a nuisance, because on most rides, you will have to take them on and off. Plus, you will be walking a lot. It's a big place!
Q: Which rides should I ride?
A: It depends on you! If you're a real thrillseeker, go for X2 & Tatsu! If you prefer the milder thrills instead, take on Ninja or Goldrusher!
