In regards to yesterday's blog post, it has been deleted due to clarification within the situation.
It's time for a Trip Review (the equivalent and new version of trip reports). I mean, let's face it. Writing a Trip Report has such a bad ring to it. Report itself. School essays= Report. Book reports. You see what I mean?
Superman: EFK Preview Ride Anyway, today I got to ride Superman: Escape From Krypton exactly one month before opening. The park is hosting preview rides for thrill pass holders only this weekend only, and I was able to get there on the LAST car/ride of the day due to the rain that began just beforehand. The event was supposed to last through 5pm, but my ride (the last) was at 1pm even. The queue is NO different, except for maybe some revamped neon lighting, and the station is the same. The trains however were very different. The Shoulder restraints were a change from the normal, allowing your right arm a lot of space to move around, while the left side had a small opening enough for your hand to go through which seemed odd.. The belts were also extremely odd. The plug in piece was SKINNY, as a pen, and the connector that holds it was almost like a grasp/hook. Hard to describe. The ride itself was incredible. The launch was amazing, way better backwards, and the air time really was felt more this time around. At the top it really feels like your hanging there, and provides a very high view of the park. Your stomach really hangs there, and I have to admit it feels like yor up there for a long time. On the way down however, rain drops turned into bullets on the face at the high speeds that hurt more than anything. Neal Thurman, one of the managers at the park was also there. The Rest Of The Day After Superman, it was a given free for all as EVERY SINGLE ride was a walk-on. Even X2, Tatsu, Goliath, and the rest. Viper and Ninja were the only ones that closed due to the weather. While in line for Goliath, the ride operators actually removed a train to switch over to one train operation. Basically, a piece of track along with the emergency walkway, is moved sideways along a chain powered track underneath. The train is driven off, and the track goes back in place on the brake run. The rain didn't seize to stop any coasters, and allowed for no lines, no people on the walkways, and multiple rides without getting off on X2 and Tatsu as an example. Due to weather, the park closed at 6 rather than 8. Yes, it was freezing, and the rain pretty much soaked us, but it was worth it. Word of advice: Magic Mountain is so much better to expreience in the rain. Just be prepared for drenching, freezing temps, pelting rain in the face at some points on the rides, and possible closures. Oh, and the Job Fair was today in the Picnic Pavilion. I think it's a good time to say Happy Birthday GOLIATH as the rollercoaster celebrates 11 years of extreme, wildly fun. Opened on February 11, 2000, Goliath marked a new age for Magic Mountain as the park began to add several extreme attractions in the years to follow. So, take the next moment you have to go check out Goliath, now 11 years old! Sound a little weird? Okay, so other than Goliath, we've been working on Planet SIX getting ready for the busy summer season ahead. A brand new feature we added, is the 'Back In Time' news archives. Check the news section every week for a new article deep from the archives of park history, you may have not known happened. And the park Info section will also be expanding soon as we add the restaurants and dining information at Magic Mountain including pricing, menus, and other stuff. And to conclude this blog post, the Planet SIX Coaster Show will be happening in March so stay tuned for that. There's sure to be more!
Can you believe it's only February?? Where will the time go? At least it's Spring, said Punxsutawny Phil a few days agos so that's good. And you know what else is? CLUB SIX! Yesterday was the official debut of the new Club SIX transformation. It's a completely new interface and experience, even ask any of the many members that already signed up. There's features like member profiles, photo albums, event sharing, the forum and more. Hopefully, the Club SIX forum will turn into the main forum for Planet SIX. You know the original forum? Well, that'll most likely stay up, but with not a lot of action. But yes, it will still be open if you desire to use it. Tip though, the Club SIX one is a LOT nicer... Just saying... Anyways, so if you want to become a member of the new Club SIX then head over there. And yes original members have to re-sign up too.
In other news, Fun Stuff turned into the Extreme Zone today. The reason for this, was "Fun Stuff" did not sound as attractive as Extreme Zone does, so we went with it. And since it's Superbowl Sunday, the Extreme Zone is hosting a Superbowl Celebration. ALL Day today, there will be different features added, and different challenges. So in addition to your own Superbowl party, you can check it out. Also, Planet SIX will be offering a Custom Trip Planner service soon. The service will include your custom trip preferences, custom map, and even ride suggestions. So that's a wrap everyone. Enjoy the game. Or for non-football people, enjoy the Sunday. |
