Whether it's confirmed or not, honestly I doubt that the monorail will be starting back up anytime soon, if not never. When you look at it's footprint on the park, it's not just a monorail track that it left, but rather a''pathway'' for another possible attraction (in this case; a coaster). As we know, the Monorail had three boarding locations- Samurai Summit, Colossus County Fair & High Sierra Territory.
Many enthusiasts have made the suggestion of a launched coaster (probably Intamin designed) running through Samurai Summit, racing around trees and shrubs. But, when you look at it, this would be a major engineering feat working around Ninja, Goldrusher, and the tons of shrubbery on the mountain. Instead, move that thought over to the old monorail layout. Of course, it was never designed for a rollercoaster, but with the footings there and the trees cleared for it, half of the work is already done.
The Samurai Summit monorail stop might not be quite big enough to be a coaster station, but at least it could serve as good tunnel action. If you haven't wandered up there yourself, the photos below show what the old station has for them to work with. If not that, there's always the High Sierra Territory station option or the Colossus County Fair station! Please keep in mind, that obviously these stations will have to be MAJORLY refurbished to be used.

The red line follows the monorail layout. The yellow star is the High Sierra Stop, green star is at the Samurai Summit tunnel and blue star is in Colossus County Fair.
The Samurai Summit stop isn't big enough for a full-on station and queue, but it could serve as a fly by tunnel or something.
The Colossus County Fair could be the park's other option for a station, but honestly, the High Sierra stop beats it.
