Below, given some research on the Internet, we were able to find this photo below taken a few days ago at the park showing the Flashback Plaza blocked off. The addition will lie adjacent to the Flashback building which will stay untouched for a supposed new store and quick service eatery to be added later.
Turns out park management was planning a much-needed attraction for Hurricane Harbor in 2012 after all! We've been able to confirm that the waterpark will be adding a dual thrill, high speed slide complex adjacent to the Flashback building. An anonymous source from park management leaked the info regarding the $11 million investment entitled, StormScraper; consisting of two thrill slides themed after storms, Hurricane Twister and Tsunami Falls. Below, given some research on the Internet, we were able to find this photo below taken a few days ago at the park showing the Flashback Plaza blocked off. The addition will lie adjacent to the Flashback building which will stay untouched for a supposed new store and quick service eatery to be added later. Below, we've got a picture shot at the manufacturer, ProSlide i Ottawa of the supposed slide pieces preparing to be sent to California. Check out the video animation produced by Magic Mountain on their YouTube Channel showing off the two slides here! Did we ever tell you, Happy April Fool's?

The LA Times has finally dispelled its own take on the popular speculation of a Premier built launched coaster to replace the late Log Jammer attraction. According to the newspaper, the ride is thought to be a quote, ''terrain-hugging coaster'' with an interesting twist; a world record for the tallest loop on Earth.
Apparently, the main source of this rumor is linked to a mechanic working for Magic Mountain spilling the insights about the 2013 attraction. The name in particular is also mentioned by LA Times to be Full Throttle, the name they say to have gotten from the Six Flags Facebook Page. On further look, I found nothing of the sort on either Six Flags' official page or Magic Mountain's, but then again the LA Times has been correct about its attraction information in many past accounts. Nevertheless, we should hear official word from Magic Mountain about the rollercoaster in late summer as always. You can refer to the original article here yourself. Or, we invite you to join in discussion about it here! Six Flags Magic Mountain spills plans for record-setting coaster - latimes.com Though we haven't been able to keep up with Deja Vu's fast-paced de-construction process, its quick removal means track is already arriving across the country. It might not seem like a lot yet, but considering only a few sections can be fitted onto one flatbed, it's making surprising progress. In fact, it's not even completely gone at Magic Mountain yet! Could this be Deja Vu (or Goliath's) new color scheme? Though, Six Flags New England once commented on Facebook that this was only a rendering from years ago, it has now appeared on Goliath's Official Page on the website. The color seems fitting to the name, doesn't it?
Unfortunately, the rumors have pretty much been justly confirmed now regarding Log Jammer and the possibility of it's closure. According to sources, tonight, October 31 is indeed the last day of Log Jammer's 40-year existence at the park. As we haven't been to the park within the past week or so, we can't confirm this, but word from the park is that a sign posted in front of the ride reads: "Log Jammer is being removed for future park expansion. SFMM is always evolving, not one to rest on its laurels. We are sad to see Log Jammer leave, but we are excited about the future plans for the area and know our guests will be too." Whatever the exact reasoning for closing the ride is, we can most likely conclude that in the end such an old attraction like Log Jammer would be so costly to maintain, it'd be just as expensive to invest in a new ride. I have doubt that the park will use this land for anything next year, but in 2013, we're sure to see something bigger there.. If not that, at least know about it. Seeing the area that Log Jammer occupies, there's a golden opportunity for another grand coaster at Magic Mountain. So here's the Park Map and Guide for this year's Fright Fest. The map itself was a little too large to fit properly in the blog post, so I converted it to a PDF. If there is an issue downloading it, be sure to let me know. Enjoy...
Yesterday, we got a peek of the beginning stages of Deja Vu's deconstruction in preparation to be relocated back east next year. Almost the entire day, the majority of crews were focused on a small portion of the cobra roll which eventually was the first piece off later in the day. However, other work has been done as well including removing the train and disconnecting each set of cars, and station work also. We only checked back at the area after dark when we noticed they had taken out the first piece. Check back for here for more de-construction shots and follow SFNE Online for construction pics of Deja Vu at it's new home! (Click to enlarge) (C) Ryan O'neill
While we were at the park this past Monday for the Deja Vu Farewell 10x Ride Event, we snapped some more photos of Fright Fest (not in operation). Of course, we'll try to attend the actual event to bring back some pics of the fright in action. Until then, enjoy! If you didn't already see the last article we had posted, we visited Magic Mountain this past Sunday. Since Fright Fest kicks off in only a week and a half on October 7th, the park is showing signs all over the place that the event is nearing. Not only this, but it gives us clues as to where some new attractions (for Fright Fest) are, as well as what they are. For example, Gypsy Hollow will be located in the Movie District beginning right after the Colossus County Fair Midway Games. CURSED is a new maze that will replace Tidal Wave's previous queue-maze: Escape Of The Zombies from 2010... Aftermath will be in the Riddler's Revenge Plaza. aftermath maze scenesFright Fest signsCarnevil-stage showThis past Sunday, we visited Magic Mountain to find Fright Fest was already in the air in the park. Not only this, but one maze in particular was free to look in and in fact walk in. The maze; Warehouse 13, is located in Log Jammer's queue house every year including this year, but the ride doesn't close even though the maze is under construction. Of course the ride will close once the maze begins operation on the 7th, but we got a look at the complete interior of ''The Warehouse" minus the scare-actors.
Looks like 13 is the number for Fright Fest activities this year. In total, we've got 3 new mazes (one being the Chupacabra), and 2 new scare zones. For a complete list of the scary stuff, go here. Besides these haunted attractions, Fright fans get to experience Colossus Backwards again, X2: Area 19 again, and all the coasters with lights off. However, last year's event, quite a few still had their lift lights on. And West Coast Bashers- If you thought you were the only ones who got to experience Batman: Foggy Nights, think again! Oh, and forgot to mention that Heckles and Twitch is not on this year's entertainment line-up either..... Fright Fest RidesColossus Backwards - A tradition every year only for Fright Fest. X2: Area 19 - Nothing new here, but redone on-board audio based on a premise of a U.F.O against the United States Air Force. Batman: Foggy Nights - No further details but a catchy backstory, the name hints at a Batman The Ride complete with a densely fogged course and spotlights. (West Coast Bashers know what I'm talking about). Thumper Bumpers - Sandblasters (aka: the bumper cars) re-themed to bass-loaded music and lights. (C) Six Flags Magic Mountain
