First, we would like to thank one of our forum users, S33S313. for bringing this update to us on the Forum. He also provided the photo shot of the new signage below. A new sign has recently been posted up in front of the closed Superman circle, saying that Superman TE will be closed until Spring 2011, and that something "BIG" is happening at Superman. Earlier this month, a sign was posted in front of Superman saying that it was undergoing "annual maintenance." And now, this maintenance is revealed as some sort of project undergoing on Superman.
So, I was predicting the park to be busy on a Sunday afternoon in summer, but surprisingly, it was about as busy as a weekday. The only exceptions were RR, Tatsu, Terminator, & X2. Before I got into the park, we had to do the routine security checkpoint, which turned out slow. Why? Oh, only because the guy & girl in front of us, had some sort of alcohol in their souvenir bottles. Of course, security asked them questions instead of letting us through. How did it end? Well, since the girl was underage, we'll let you decide.
As always in the summer, the water rides were all packed of course, with the exception being Tidal Wave. So, we ended up skipping Log Jammer, where we headed to Colossus (walk-on), & Scream! which was maybe 5 minutes in wait. Colossus was having a hard time releasing riders from their lap bars, so most of the unloading of the trains was slow, since the operators had to do this manually. After this, we went to Tidal Wave, prepared to get soaked. In the end, we didn't get soaked until the bridge. Oh yeah, and "Lector's Slaughterhouse", a 2009 Fright Fest maze in Gotham City was also viewable from the top of Tidal. Rides to follow were Goldrusher, Ninja & Viper. Oh and Superman was still closed by the way. And the highlight of my day was the mighty Viper. Why? No wait of course! I got at least 10 consecutive rides on it! On our way back from Viper to Batman, we happened to notice the ground dug up in Sierra Twist's old place across from Thomas Town. You can tell that work is being done on the vacant lot, and something is obviously planned to go there. Why? It used to be concrete flat, but now the concrete is out, and in place is dug up dirt everywhere. Could we see another flat ride? I snapped a couple of photos, which I'll post soon. And after that, I took a ride on Batman (no wait), and finally Ninja again. And then after ALL of that, we were out of there, on our way to Jimmy Deans. Unfortunately, we could not find a Seven Eleven on the way home, or else we would've gotten another FREE SLURPEE! Rumors for Superman being closed for quote, "A LONG time", first begun when Screamscape said that Superman has been closed for a while now. I however, cannot confirm this or not, because the ride seemed functional last Thursday when I went. If anyone has any further details on this, let us know! It kind of sucks if it IS closed for a long time, because I really do enjoy the 15-20 second ride. Updates on this as soon as they come.
It could mean that this might be the end for Terminator's famous on-board audio, since the audio hasn't been operating for a while now. Yesterday, I happened to notice that the speakers were covered with a metal plate, bolted on, which looked permanent. Maybe a wooden coaster was just not meant ot have on-board audio...
Wednesday was my first trip to Hurricane Harbor for 2010, which wasn't too crowded. WIth that, our first stop was Black Snake Summit, to ride the two enclosed body slides. And no, I have never rode Venom Drop, and probably never will, as long as it's that steep. I do have ot say, that I do wnjoy the inner tube slides more than the body slides, just because they have more of a "ride/coaster" feel to it. We made an entire round of the park in only a couple of hours, finishing our day off, riding our tube rentals around the lazy river for about an hour. Maybe that's why I'm sunburned? Hmm?? Nothing out of the ordinary really happened this time, so it was a normal trip to the water park. But I still have to say that I favor Magic Mountain much more than Hurricane Harbor. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed it.
Yesterday, I took a trip to Magic Mountain, once again to be surprised about the lines, and some other things. First of all, the line waits were plain awesome! The lines were very minimal on most of the rides, except the water rides because the temperature was nearing the big 100. The first ride we headed to was Batman The Ride, which we were the first riders of the day on, since we got to the park almost a half hour before opening, I know, it's pretty early. We took advantage of this situation, riding Batman multiple times before heading to Scream!. Some advice: Head for the rides farthest away from the gates, since most people go for the closest being X2, Viper & Tatsu.
After riding Scream!, Goliath, & Colossus, we headed for Baja Ridge, specifically Viper. For an unknown reason, Viper was closed. Afterwards, we made our way over to Cyclone Bay (We were saving X2 & Tatsu for the end). When we rode Terminator Salvation TR, I was surprised to see the speakers on the cars were bolted over by a metal plate. I also saw more track for Mr. Six's DanceCoaster behind Deja Vu. We finished all of the coasters there shortly, except Deja Vu & Superman. We were able to make about 3 or 4 rounds arou nd the park, riding the coasters multiple times. We went over to Tatsu, & after that Roaring Rapids. And finally, it was time for the almighty, X2, which had only about a ten minute line wait. As X2 does every time, it gives me an extra boost of energy, wanting more rides. So, we decided to give Viper one more try,and it was open. Unofrnately, they wre only running one train, but it was still fun. |
