Thursday of last week, an alarm was tripped at the Santa clarita valley sheriff's substation at night, which led to a suspected theft at the park. Later in the night, a 27-year old man attempted to drive away from the scene in one of the maintenance vans the park has in the back. Deputies say that a FLASH & BATMAN costume were in the back, and that he was wearing a security outfit he had obtained.

Featured in the new 2011 Map, three new entertainment shows are just about to go underway at magic mountain. One of them known as, MY GENERATIONS will be taking place select days starting may 28- August 22. It's described as an 'exciting light and laser show featuring music videos from the 1980's to present' in the Magic Moments Theater. The show looks as if it will be replacing SLAMBANG from 2010.
The second show is SUGGESTIONS! in the Golden Bear Theatre which will feature quote 'hilarious hypnotists' mingling with the crowd and taking many guests into hilarious scenarios. And last but not least, there's a new night time celebration- Rhythm of the night which is an evening finale starring Bugs Bunny and Friends in a musical celebration. It begins on june 18 and runs through August 24. It is still unclear whether Mat Hoffman's Danger Defying Daredevils show will be returning. Gotham City Backlot is making the switch to the all-new Area re-theme to DC UNIVERSE. With this, not only will the name be changed, but to fit the rides, the attractions will ALSO be changing names.
Grinder Gearworks is now called 'Wonder WOMAN'S GOLDEN LASSO' and Atom Smasher is now 'THE FLASH.' These name changes came as a total surprise to most people and certainly bring out the new theme well. The AXIS store is now called DC Universe Store. If you don't already know, Gotham City Backlot is switching over due to the addition of Green Lantern this summer. It's all operations for the water rides at magic mountain now as the season is just approaching. Tidal Wave, Jet Stream, Log Jammer & Roaring Rapids opened for the 2011 season after being closed for the off-season since November. Today was the first day of operations, and certainly was not the day for drenching attractions. The park is still yet to open Colossus & Deja Vu which are expected to open in a few weeks in April.
In addition to these rides, Whistlestop park opened for the first time today with the newly refurbished & re-themed rif Today was the official superman: Escape from krypton press event for media from news stations, papers, and even some lucky fans like Planet SIX who got to attend the exclusive ceremony. The day started off when the Facebook Fans who were chosen met at 10am in the employee parking lot. We all had to check-in, and received our special Superman shirts that were designed to be backwards & inside-out, a clever way of celebrating Superman backwards. From there, after waiting for a while, they led the group into the park where we gathered in the Colossus County Faor Junction next to Superman for the press conference. Several 'side-show' like acts were performing like unicyclists, steer-wheel people, and a stuntman. It took the park about half an hour to start the conference, where the park president, Bonnie Rabjohn did the introduction. From there, we were all escorted up and around to orient express. We then had the choice of going on the ride, or eating lunch first. Lunch was served in the laughing Dragon Pizza Co. Building and included pizza, salad, cookies, breadsticks, and soda. All FREE! After that, we headed over to superman. The left side was the filmed side, and the right was the faster, non-filmed side. Although the event was said to last until one, it went way over that. Check out the photos + Video Footage >>during the Superman Media event today, many new changes and things were revealed to us for the future. one of those things was the confirmation of the new DC UNIVERSE themed-area replacing Gotham City. Park president, Bonnie Rabjohn confirmed this during her speech. The second change was the new Primo's Pizza, the new pizza venue replacing Papa John's.
Percy The Rollercoaster will now be called 'Magic Flyer' in the new Whistlestop depot. In addition to these changes, we noticed Colossus, Goliath, and X2 receiving attention from maintenance crews. A huge crane was seen hoisting a man tightening bolts on X2, along with on Colossus. Crews were on Goliath, but what they were up to has not been revealed. Yes. It is Superman: The]escape's 14th birthday today! And not Escape From Krypton. Superman: The Escape opened to the public as the world's tallest & Fastest Coaster on March 15, 1997.
And if any of you live around or were out and about near the park today, you probably noticed the superman: EFK ad in the sky! Magic Mountain sent up a typewriting plane to spell out 'RIDE SUPERMAN SDRAWKCAB'. Superman: Escape From Krypton officially opens this saturday, March 19. We'll also be at media day tomorrow the 16th so we'll grab some photos and maybe a video. At about 9am Wednesday morning, news reporter, Gayle Anderson from KTLA 5 hosted a special story about Superman: Escape From Krypton. Along with 14 other ACE members, Anderson got a sneak peek on the ride, not once, but twice. A launch that went 104 mph left her speechless, while Sue Carpenter from marketing talked about the ride opening in only 9 days on March 19. Watch the video by clicking the link below.
Watch the news video here > April 19, 1993- On Saturday, nearly a thousand kids who were turned away from entering sold-out park, started riots outside involving the surrounding area. Looting from several stores nearby were reported as well as restaurants. Not only this, but kids already inside the park were turned down from the sold-out TLC and Paperboy concert. This caused in-park venues to be vandalized, along with more rioting. Over 900 deputies were called out due to the violence, even some in full riot gear trying to control the rioters. As a result, Magic Mountain later banned future rap performances at the park. The park also started a full-on clean up after the rampages seized.
Magic Mountain released this afternoon that there will indeed be extra Superman: Escape From Krypton technical rehearsals on March 5, 6, 12, and 13 from noon- 5pm, just like the previous weekends. Fans are instructed to print out the inivitation from their Facebook page here and bring it with them to the park. Again, no sneak peek if rain does occur.
