Rumors are starting to spread about Green Lantern's track arrival at the park. This comes after work in the construction area has started and preparation for the construction has began including the removal of trees, brush, and concrete. Some say that the track is being stored by Deja Vu and Apocalypse. More on this later.
Did you know that Six Flags has over 40 different job positions at Six Flags California for this summer? Just recently, the park released the full seasonal job line-up as Magic Mountain gears up for a busy 40th anniversary, and Six Flags for it's 50th. There are certainly the common jobs that are displayed all year round on their employment site, but during this time of year, they've uncovered some of the most odd, and random roles that help Magic Mountain run for each operating day. For instance, did you know that the park has an official "lamper" who helps replace and fix all lighting in the park? And did you know that the mountain has an Auto Shop? As weird as they may seem, they're real. The park's job fair is coming along the way on February 19-20th from 10a.m-5p.m. And why is this news? Well, it's not, but it certainly is interesting to see what kind of jobs the park offers that the public doesn't see.
The LA TIMES released yesterday, that the park has switched plans spontaneously for the new family coaster, Little Flash. Instead of the coaster to be themed after the DC Comic character, Magic Mountain has decided upon opening their newest family coaster as Roadrunner Express. Now, Six Flags fans who traced the coaster back to it's origins at Six Flags New Orleans, will remember that it was called the exact same name there, before being removed and transferred to Magic Mountain in 2009. Roadrunner Express will be located where Yosemite Sam's Sierra Falls was, and will officially debut along with Superman: Escape From Krypton and the un-branded Thomas Town on March 19.
Testing commenced about two days before Saturday say park officials for the new Superman: Escape From Krypton. Saturday was the first day for public testing during an operating day, gaining much publicity for the rollercoaster. The left side was the only side running, with the brand-new car. Testing did not include the common water test dummies, as the car was empty. Taking off about every five minutes, Superman caught the eye of several guests, causing an employee to guard the gated off plaza on Samurai Summit. According to park supervisors, Superman will only be receiving the one new car, as the ride will operate with one side backwards, with the other still forwards with the classic car. The new car features Over-The-Shoulder restraints, and is painted a jet blue color. Superman: Escape From Krypton will open March 19 before Spring Break. It's been in the newspapers.. It's been on the websites.. Superman: Escape From Krypton will OFFICIALLY debut on Saturday, March 19. The opening comes right before Spring Break begins, building up even more revenue for the park over the break because of the new coaster. The date also conincides with West Coaster Bash, an event held by the rollercoaster website: Theme Park Review. Magic Mountain also stated that testing of the new ride will begin at the end of this month in preparation for the unveiling.
Yesterday (January 8) was the set date that Magic Mountain had said that they were "officially" going to change Terminator's name to Apocalypse. If you don't already know, this is because of Six Flags' action to drop licensing terms with many of their themed affiliates like Terminator & Thomas The Tank Engine. The ride opened up on Saturday as the new Apocalypse with the sign for the ride changed to say: Apocalypse The Ride and the brand new pre-show. In summary, the pre-show is based on an after-world apocalypse that leaves good people behind and bad people called: "The Scavengers". Other than that, not much has changed in the "alteration". The Terminators in the final room have been removed, and a couple of things has also been removed too. Photo courtesy of: Theme Park Review
