Perhaps a giant inflatable mock igloo is Coke's way of cooling down Memorial Day Weekend at Six Flags. Armed with a giant igloo and a massive A/C cooling unit, Coca-Cola put on a promotion this weekend in the center of Magic Mountain's parking lot involving free samples of Coke products, supposed music and games and best of all- A Beyond cold lounge. We all know that Santa Clarita gets hot, so the igloo served as a ''beyond cool'' place to hang out, said a Coke vendor. While we were there, they were still in the process of setting things up inside which is why we couldn't go in, but FREE soda and a cold igloo sounded nice. The promotion was to be held on the weekend along with today; Memorial Day. (click to enlarge)

Paint is continuing to be added to buildings in DC Universe as the area begins to get closer to June 18- Opening for both the area and Green Lantern as well. Some minor changes have been going on since the last update. Green Lantern's station is also halfway finished as seen in the last picture. Trivia: The 344 number as seen in the middle of the second row, refers to "344 Clinton Street", deriving from the address Superman (or Clark Kent) stayed for most of his career in the comics. Planet SIX was there when the park opened it's 17th coaster- Roadrunner Express this afternoon. "We are very excited about the opening of our 17th coaster, Roadrunner Express" stated Bonnie Rabjohn, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain. All hands were on deck at the coaster's area, ready to unveil the family ride. The opening featured several of the Warner Bros. characters, as well as Wile. Coyote opening the coaster with the ignition of 'TNT', or confetti rain. The festivities started at noon, but select people were chosen to ride the coaster earlier in the morning including us. In brief, The Cyber Cafe has recently received new HP computers for their computer line-up that they offer in addition to their free WiFi. If you can recall, the former computer systems in the cafe did not function like a normal desktop, only giving you an Internet option and nothing else. These computers however, have a full on desktop. Though it seems that you could edit the settings, you still can't.
Only a few things have changed in a few days, but crews have recently applied new paint schemes to various buildings and structures in DC Universe. The Entry Archway has been given a gray with red paint job which seems to add color compared to the previous gray scheme put to it in the old Gotham City. The other major change in the area was Wonder Woman's Golden Lasso structure being painted various themes and colors. Other than that, nothing else is very noticeable. And by the way, Green Lantern opens Saturday, June 18 which could mean that DC Universe will unveil then or maybe before!
It was Roadrunner Express at Six Flags New Orleans. It journeyed to California to open as Mr. Six's Dance Coaster in 2010. Plans were put off for it to finally debut as Roadrunner Express in 2011. Magic Mountain announced that the new family coaster would be unveiled to the public this Saturday, May 28; Memorial Day Weekend. Testing has been in progress for a few days now, and the official entrance sign has been placed. No work on the queue or line yet, but the station is being worked on. (click to enlarge)
Back when Tatsu was still under vertical construction, a team of workers fought through obstacles and challenges of all kinds to make Tatsu come true. In dedication to this team, their names were printed on a piece of the turnaround after the first corkscrew in letters large enough for on-lookers to see. But recently, the names were painted over and faded out with thin white paint. It's a possibility that the list is going to be re-done, which we'll follow up on.
While we were strolling the park yesterday afternoon, we passed by DC Universe. Crews were working on several things, notably re-painting Grinder Gearworks (soon Wonder Woman's Golden Lasso) blue as seen in Photo #1. Although, we were expecting a 'golden' paint scheme to fit the name, they may be adding more paint themes to it. In Photo #2, you can see that they have re-painted the fake town-style building facades to the side of the main area path across from Atom Smasher (The Flash). If the re-paintings will presume later on everywhere in DC Universe, this area will definitely be bursting with colors. In Photo #3, a man is painting Grinder Gearworks station building white, similar to the same white treatment seen in other buildings in the area. Green Lantern's track is also completed and is very visible from the surrounding paths of the park. And lastly, the lighting frame in front of the barrier as well as the plaza is for Grad Nite performers, not DC Universe.
Roadrunner Express is really coming along in the construction stages of the ride as the opening date is fast approaching. Recent work includes painting the station frame red, re-painting all of the supports black, and lift testing- Which took place today. The walls on the station building have also started to be installed, as you can see on pictures #2 & 4, with blue walls and windows. It's still unconfirmed on when the coaster will be unveiled. You heard it folks! That's it for Green Lantern vertical construction when crews capped off the last piece on the coaster today. The park released the finale photos of it's last track addition this afternoon. Of course, the project isn't completely finished yet though.. The queue, theming, and station is still in need of construction as well as the mandated testing that comes with every new coaster practically. Just as a reminder, Green Lantern opens sometime in June.
