January 10, 2002- There was once a time when Magic Mountain did not offer flash passes. instead, they offered a system known as: 'fast lane'. Guests could purchase a Fast Lane premium boarding pass for $15 (2002) $17 (2003-04) that would allow them four "premium" boarding opportunities. This however was an option on HOW they chose to spend their four rides. Say for instance, there was one person with a fast lane pass. they could ride 4 rides. If there was a group of two, they could ride 2 rides, and if there were 4 people- only one. The good aspect of it was no ride reservation times were needed. Although, unlike the Flash Pass policy today, only certain rides offered the fast lane on certain days, which put more restriction on their use. Was this system of $15 for 4 rides with no lines BETTER than The Flash Pass? Or was it in the end worse?
