For a long time, Magic Mountain fans have wondered when the park was going to include a drop tower into their thrill ride line-up. A few different possible areas have been speculated including the most obvious- Thrill Shot location. The general area around Thrill Shot has been in much need of another ride to revitalize itself, which is where an S&S Turbo Drop would come in..
There has also been speculation that Thrill Shot could be due for removal from the park by the end of this year (as some heard from West Coast Bash). With the late Maliboomer attraction at California Adventure that closed last year, Supreme Scream is the only remaining Drop Tower type ride in Southern California. And with the new thrill ride for next year unknown, could this be 2012 or maybe sometime in the future?
Both Supreme Scream and Thrill Shot from the same zoomed in view. Clearly, an S&S Turbo Drop (Supreme Scream) could fit into Thrill Shot's footprint well if you compare these two shots..
For some reason, I can strongly envision the season pass upgrade sign being replaced with the tricked out ride entrance sign. The queue I imagine, would probably begin somewhere near those trash cans or the sign.
For the Thrill Shot area to work, this building would have to either be redone, removed which is unlikely, or re-used as a structure for the line since this amounts for most of the possible queue line space for the ride.
If the park needed, the area to the right of Thrill Shot which amounts to some Jet Stream storage could be used for the main exit.
